A Collective Call to Action: Building a Safer Digital World for Children

A 13-year-old watches a video, a teenager shares a post, a parent scrolls through updates. Three everyday moments that now define childhood. Behind each click lies a complex mix of opportunity and risk. As children spend more time online, the question is no longer whether the digital world shapes them, it’s how responsibly we shape it for them.

Recognizing that no single institution can address this alone, Kaio, a public policy and strategic communications firm, has launched the Alliance for Children in a Digital World, a first of its kind multi-stakeholder platform bringing together government bodies, industry, educators, NGOs, health professionals, policymakers, and the parent and creator ecosystem.

The Alliance’s founding members include, All India Game Developers Federation, Graphiti Multimedia, Khushii, GD Goenka Public School, Manas Foundation, Teach to Elicit, Green World Education & Research, One Future Collective, Mindelevate Training Technologies, Social & Media Matters, content creator Sonali Sarkar, among others working with children in various capacities.

Outlining the intent, Lavanya Singh, Founder & CEO, Kaio, said, “Children’s digital lives are no longer separate from their real lives. They are deeply intertwined. Ensuring that children’s digital lives are protected and that they are nurtured, even in the digital space, requires coordinated action across sectors. The Alliance is designed to bring that alignment and accountability into focus.”

The initiative is anchored in four priority areas: online safety and responsible behaviour, AI for youth empowerment, mental health and well-being, and digital education. Together, these pillars aim to address both the risks children face online and the opportunities technology can unlock.

The Alliance will focus on two key deliverables designed to drive measurable impact.

The Charter is a commitment framework that founding members will sign and actively implement. Signatories will undertake awareness and action initiatives across the four pillars in the six months leading up to Children’s Day on November 14.

The Base Educational Module, developed by Kaio in collaboration with Social Media Matters and Mind Elevate, will serve as a foundational digital learning resource for two age groups, 6 to 13 years and 13 to 18 years. Designed for flexibility, it can be adapted into case studies, videos, and interactive formats, and disseminated through schools, communities, and partner networks.

Kaio will support signatories through workshops, curated content, partnerships, and community engagement, ensuring commitments translate into implementation.

As digital ecosystems evolve rapidly, fragmented efforts are no longer sufficient. What is needed is alignment across stakeholders, backed by shared accountability and measurable outcomes.

The Alliance for Children in a Digital World signals a shift from conversation to coordinated action, bringing together diverse stakeholders with a common goal: to create a digital environment where children are safe, supported, and empowered to thrive. Because building a better digital world for children is not the responsibility of one, it is the responsibility of all.
